Task

Creating a user-friendly online store of power tools and accessories

Engineering

Prior to prototyping, we analyzed six types of users and built a Customer Journey Map to understand the interaction of the customer with the store at all stages of the purchasing process.

We created detailed prototypes of the key pages according to the developed CJM and found several convenient solutions: for instance, a catalog menu fixed on the side and available from each page of the website.

Design

A power tool store can be not only convenient and functional, but also stylish. We chose a strict kind of design, but highlighted the key points to improve user experience.

Product catalog

When designing a catalog, we took into account the standard user expectations and added some new interesting features. For example, in order to filter products, it is enough to use quick visual prompts. There is also an option to move to a useful article right from the catalog page.

Product page

On the product page, we revealed all the advantages of the tool: provided a detailed description, showed a 360-degree view, suggested the accessories and a value set.

A new edition of “TMK Professional” newspaper is published quarterly. We arranged the issues on an improvised shelf and supplemented them with summaries of the issues.

In his Account, the customer can check the balance of the bonus card, view the answers to his questions about the goods and even check the status of the request to the service center.

On page 404, a principle of gamification was used: everyone who gets here and solves a simple brain-teaser receives a discount code for the next order.

Result

We developed a new design for an online store and launched the website for the high season. Through the web service we developed, the interaction between all 1C databases in the company was built: the central warehouse and 36 stores of the chain.
